Design Scenarios & Futures from Design Philosophy Papers
This issue of Design Philosophy Papers brings together the ideas of ‘design’ and ‘scenario’, developing concerns laid out in their first issue. DPP presents an interview with Ezio Manzini reflecting on the activity of creating ‘design-oriented scenarios’ towards sustainable futures, and an essay by Tony Fry that reverses the idea of ‘scenarios by design’ and considers instead the scenario of design - he asks who speaks for design and what are its prospects? Anne-Marie Willis’ essay, ‘Scenarios, Futures and Design’ provides a contemporary context for the take-up of scenarios and some exploration of the significance of design for, and beyond, their creation. Highly recommended.
