CHANGEX 2005 POSITION STATEMENTS
Launched in 2004, CHANGEX is an annual event hosted by Change Design in order to support new developments in sustainable design theory and practice emerging in the work of students. The supplementary forum and workshop play a key role in enabling participants to engage with these issues on a range of levels, and in building a critical and inclusive design community.
Change Design invites you to be provoked, be inspired and make a difference.
A selection of cross-campus graduate works which address issues of sustainability, environmental responsibility, community and social equity.
Encompassing such diverse fields as industrial design, graphics, architecture, textiles, installation, and multimedia, these works challenge conventional industry expectations, extending the boundaries of what design is, and what it could be. Design is reclaimed here as a tool for satisfying genuine human needs in ways that are both practical and imaginative, posing a compelling alternative to the contemporary (mis)use of design as an elitist, profit-driven enterprise fuelling unsustainable levels of consumption.
After the success of last years ‘Junk Love’ exhibition, the peoples from Reverse Garbage decided to take the leap and create their own Sustainable Art and Design Center. Welcome to M.A.D a space for sustainable design.
From DesignBoom: The Sustainable Toy Story - William Wilson’s creations with their distorted expressions warrant a new life for abandoned outcasts of the ‘throw-away-society’ with a sincere desire of communicating truth and sustainability.
